Ranch Story

Crazy House Western Store of Garden City, KS opened in 1960 by Greg Shaw and has been a family-ran cattle business since. The C-H brand was established in the mid 1990’s with father Brian Shaw and son, now owner, Taylor Shaw. Taylor currently runs roughly 100 pairs & 50-70 HR bred heifers under the C-H brand. The brand has moved forward by pushing into northern genetics; Connealy Angus bulls/cows from north central Nebraska. New growth has occurred under the manager, Brandon Smith and family over 6 years. Cattle are supplemented with alfalfa bales, cake protein feed, and protein tubs as-needed. Purina: Wind & Rain mineral program. Cows get injectable dewormer, Clean-Up II, Scour Bos, ViraShield 6+VL5 in the fall at preg check. In the spring they get poured with Cydectin. 4/19 Calves: BoviShield Gold, Vision 7 w/ Spur, Inforce 3. Steers Knife cut. 8/31 Pre-weaning: BoviShield Gold, Vision 7 w/ Spur, Cydectin. 9/13 Calves BoviShield Gold 5, injectable dewormer, Clean-Up II, FerAppease.
